Justice Kids Meets Justice League

Photographer Josh Rossi, known for this superhero-themed children's photoshoots, unites the disabled children of his Justice League Kids project with the cast of the Justice league at Ace Comic-con. Many of the kids are amputees, disabled and cancer patient survivors. Josh and his wife Roxane worked with the costume designer, Julie Whiteley to help the children see their inner superhero as they have faced hardships and stood strong in the face of them. The Justice Kids got to meet their favorite heroes at Ace Comic con Long island where they were met with open arms!

There wasn't much time to speak with them, Thousands of people anxiously waited to take photos and they had been shaking hands and hugging fans all weekend. The security around them was TIGHT. It made sense, 10,000 people probably walked through those doors with another several thousand waiting in line before the evening was over.

But you'd never know it from their warm demeanor. Gal extended a hand in greeting. I was taken aback by her height and build. She was statuesque! I'm not a short lady either. at 5'10 I'm not accustomed to looking up. But there she was maybe a head taller [ in heels]. Right next to her, Henry Cavill, the pair of them showing the efforts of their training for the stunts in the film. I didn't realize I'd be meeting the both of them at the same time so I was a bit flabbergasted.

I managed to say I was an artist for Marvel and DC and handed Gal an Image of a young wonder woman I'd drawn for DC Icons. I felt bad that I didn't have a print of Clark to give Henry who said: " That's BEAUTIFUL artwork!" I smiled like a goofball. I got into position for my photo at the urgent behest of the crew who were trying to push people along as fast as possible. They gave me a great group hug and I said to them as we smiled for the picture " Thank you, for restoring the gods".

They remind people to be heroic, strong and virtuous. Someone commented on seeing the photo later that Henry was giving everyone else the stoic man of steel look and I somehow got him to smile. Which made me feel great to give some kind of positive experience for all that they'd given to people that weekend. They wished me a happy holiday and I went on my way, buzzing like a Christmas tree. I'm not often star struck but it hit me like a ton of asteroids

It was a memorable experience. Everyone was really happy holding their photos in hand. No unhappy faces all weekend!

It's funny how things happen. The night before seeing Gal & Henry, I met a family; A Father, the mother, and their 8-year-old son sitting down to have dinner in the hotel lobby restaurant. It was day two of the convention and we were all seated at a bench style table so we struck up a conversation. He had a friend who was a fan of my work and couldn't make it to the show, so I sent a phone video saying hello and how we wished he were there! Apparently, the man's son was so moved by my gesture that he wanted to READ comics. His father came back downstairs from his hotel room to tell me that he reads the walking dead, his son is into the movies but he couldn't get him interested in reading anything. But he said that I was so nice for doing that for his friend, that his son wanted to read comics. So while waiting in line to meet the Justice League, I see Brayden and his dad right at the corner! We snap a quick selfie and hi-five! Later that day, he bought his very 1st comic from ME!

I tried really hard not to cry but I couldn't help it. It's everything I hope to accomplish with my work. The passing along of these ideas and icons of a higher self to the next generation who have a lot to figure out. But perhaps the heroes of lore can guide their way.

Next stop, Ace Arizona. I hope to get a chance to meet Captain America [ Chris Evans ]. See you in Phoenix!
